Another year has passed! 2015 was all about fashion, panache and style. And thanks to the launch of big fashion houses like H&M and GAP in India this year, fashion catapulted to another level. Bolder prints, neon designs and long flowing dresses were some ways that defined 2015.
As we gear up for another year of fashion, let’s look back on 2015’s biggest fashion trends.
Who inspired the look?
The palazzos were certainly popularised (if not brought in) with a bang by Priyanka Chopra’s look in Dil Dhadakne Do. Piggy Chops looked absolutely radiant in her white palazzo pants paired with a printed crop top, as she lounged against the very Zoya Akhtar-esque cruise ship background.
She also ensured a cult following for the palazzo.
Why should you wear it?
Stylish yet comfortable, these were the hottest buys of 2015. We also discovered that they could be ubiquitously paired with Indian wear too! (It was almost a revolution when the palazzos displaced the salwars.)
While flower patterns make for excellent day wear, solid white palazzos paired with corsets or shirts and high heels make for great evenings.
Who inspired the look?
Deepika was caught at a Garnier event last year, sporting a floral mid-length skirt with a flattering off-shoulder crop top. If that didn’t get the fashion meters up and running, the sexy begum of Bollywood made sure she popularised this style when she posted a selfie with her nawab, Saif Ali Khan, on Instagram in the mid length skirt. Fashion alert we say?
Why should you wear it?
The A-line mid-length skirt was a flattering silhouette in 2015. A bandage crop top or a plain shirt tucked in does the trick without showing too much skin!
Who inspired the look?
Katrina Kaif was recently snapped with Ranbir Kapoor wearing a white maxi dress, as the couple made their way to the Kapoor clan’s annual Christmas brunch. Need we say she looked gorgeous in that white floor-length tunic?
Why should you wear it?
Cool yet classy, subtle yet stylish, the white maxi was a trendsetter in 2015. Sure, maxis have been around for ages, but something about the ethereal white – which incidentally, everyone from Sonam Kapoor to Deepika Padukone flaunt every chance they get – makes it a sure-shot classic. Also? You can experiment with fabric as much as you want – lace, cotton, organza, silk, take your pick!
Who inspired the look?
Bajirao Mastani is still fresh in fashion memory – particularly the part where Deepika and Priyanka looked all types of gorgeous. I personally loved ‘Kashibai’s’ beautifully ornate, traditional ear cuffs – a look that is big in both Indian and occidental wear.
Why should you wear it?
From bold cuffs to dainty crawlers, ear cuffs make for a great fashion accessory. Crystallised, spiked, winged or studded with diamonds – simply pick a style that suits you best!
So if you’ve missed out on any of these, it’s time to go grab ’em, for most of these styles are sure to make their way into 2016.
