Some of the news headlines in 2016 left us sorely disappointed. There were times when women were reduced to props, they were attacked for their age, and sometimes their achievements were simply overshadowed. Here’s us trying to re-imagine these outrageously sexist headlines!
No biggie, The Telegraph reduced a politician – whom they obviously don’t like – to her gender and her age, all the while pitching themselves as some sort of anti-establishment heroes. Guys wait up, why don’t you take a look at our suggestion for you?
Women in public life being reduced to sleazy pictures of their wardrobe malfunctions is not new. Having them on your front page, well, now that is!
Deepika exposed her vulnerabilities in front of her boyfriend, and sadly also to a sexist paper. Too bad Deepika! You know what Delhi Times does whenever you mention the word naked in front of them!
Remember lots of talk about Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje and “fugitive” Lalit Modi? Well, India Today took the innuendo further by using the phrase 'Fatal Attraction' . Which happens to be the name of a movie about an affair involving a married man and a woman. While we don’t know if the said gossip is true, for now, we are suggesting something like this:
Swimmer Katie Ledecky had just set a new world record in women’s 800 metre freestyle. She had incidentally also become the first woman to win gold in the 200, 400, and 800 metre freestyle events since Debbie Meyer in 1968. But guess what, The Eagle decided to mention all of that as a footnote in history, focussing instead on Phelp’s tie for a silver medal. Woman’s greatness < man’s good performance.
The worrying thing is that this is not even one of Breitbart’s top incendiary headlines. Trust them to surprise you with their vitriol. No wonder Donald Trump reads this website!
