After Toronto, Canada PM Trudeau Walks the Vancouver Pride March

Another day, another occasion for the dashing Canadian PM to woo audiences worldwide.

The 38th annual Vancouver Pride Parade had thousands marching in it, but the main attraction was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife and children, who were feted on the parade route on Sunday.

Canada’s prime minister had earlier made history by marching with tens of thousands of people in Toronto’s Pride parade. He became the country’s first sitting prime minister to participate in a LGBTQ march.

In yet another public appearance, Trudeau walked the pride parade in Vancouver. The PM can be seen walking his sleeping kid in a pram during the parade that took place on 31 July 2016.

Thunderous applause greeted Trudeau as he paraded down a main Toronto street on Sunday, waving a Canadian maple-leaf flag bordered with a rainbow.

The youthful politician, whose popularity on social media is at an all-time high, donned a salmon-coloured button-down shirt and white trousers for the occasion. He graciously obliged participants by taking selfies and shaking hands with those lining the parade route.

The colourful procession observed a minute of silence to pay respect to the victims of the 12 June nightclub massacre in Orlando, Florida, a queerphobic attack that left 49 dead.

Canada Exploring Gender-Neutral Identity Cards

Canada is exploring the use of gender-neutral options on identity cards, Justin Trudeau told a television station. Trudeau did not give any details, saying only that his government was exploring the “best way” of going about this proposal.

“That’s part of the great arc of history sweeping towards justice,” he told CP24. Last week, the Canadian province of Ontario said it would allow the use of a third gender indicator, X, for driver’s licenses, which are commonly used in North America to provide identification.

Countries including Australia, New Zealand and Nepal already allow the use of the X gender indicator on driver’s licenses.
