Tahira Kashyap Khurrana has been a model example of how to battle cancer with a positive spirit. Actor Ayushmann Khurrana’s spouse, Tahira was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer and underwent surgery late last year. And since the time she revealed her diagnosis, her outlook has always been to fight the disease with ferocity and embrace the situation with grace.
On World Cancer Day, she has posted a new picture of herself proudly celebrating her surgery scar and rocking a post-chemotherapy look. “These scars are my badges of honour,” she wrote.
She was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS). Sometimes the cells lining the milk ducts in the breast start multiplying more than they should, thereby becoming cancerous. That condition is given the term DCIS. Earlier, she had explained how the condition was localised to her right breast with high grade malignant cells.
At the time of her diagnosis, she had explained that it was a stage 0 cancer or a pre-cancerous stage. But had later advanced to stage 1 a. She underwent surgery and 12 chemo sessions for the same.
