Singer Sonu Nigam has shared a picture of his swollen face form the ICU bed. The singer was rushed to the emergency after reacting to food he was eating at a restaurant.
So severe was the reaction that he had to be hospitalised for 2 days at the Nanavati hospital.
The singer sounded a warning to his fans to not ignore food allergies. He writes, “if Nanavati Hospital wasn’t near by, my trachea would have swollen up further and lead to asphyxiation.”
Those allergic to certain proteins in sea food, specifically shellfish, tuna or salmon can have a severe reaction if the food is ingested. The reaction ranges from mild swelling, hives to the life-threatening anaphylaxis -- a sudden, severe, potentially fatal reaction that results in low blood pressure and throat swelling, making breathing difficult, according to WebMD.
Those allergic to foods must avoid them in every form. Ingesting even the most insignificant amount can lead to serious reaction.
