New age Bollywood mommies are not shying away from getting real about motherhood, and the spunky Neha Dhupia is no exception. The actress recently posted a video on Instagram, in which she talked about granting new moms the freedom to feed.

The actress also added that one of the most challenging things for her was exclusively breastfeeding her daughter, Mehr, for six months, which made her realize the importance of a support system, and sometimes, even the lack of it!

“I was travelling with her( Mehr) once by myself and I was in a flight and I knew that she needed a feed because I could hear her crying and as a mum you know exactly what you baby want. I remember standing up in the plane in the cabin and telling everyone that listen... I am going to be using the washroom for about 15 minutes (asking) if anybody wants to use it before me. Everybody knew I was taking my daughter in and what was actually going on. I remember her taking on me and the only thing I was looking up and hoping for was that the seat belt sign doesn’t go on before my little one finishes her feed. I don’t understand the consciousness behind it, I don’t understand why we need to be apologetic for doing something so right.

The actress is not alone. Fellow Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy too recently shared her views about making breastfeeding easier for new moms in public.

Both Sameera and Neha are doing a great job in raising awareness about breastfeeding this World Breastfeeding Week. Especially because their message aligns so well with the theme of the week this year.

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) has announced the theme of breastfeeding week for 2019 as - “Empower Parents. Enable Breastfeeding.”

Every year, World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated from 1 to 7 August, to promote and support breastfeeding worldwide.

Breastfeeding promotes better health for both mothers and children. World Breastfeeding Week is a tribute to the Innocenti Declaration which was signed in August 1990 by international policymakers, WHO, UNICEF and other organisations to support breastfeeding.
