Indian Canadian actor and cancer campaigner Lisa Ray’s memoir about her battle with cancer is set to release. Close To The Bone has been her passion project that she’s documented over the months on social media. In her latest post, the actor tells the readers why she wrote the book.
Earlier this week, the actor and cancer campaigner released a cover of the book.
Close to The Bone is available on Amazon for pre orders.
It documents Lisa’s battle with multiple Myeloma, a rare cancer of that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Plasma cells help you fight infections and diseases by forming antibodies. These then defend the body against the intruder. According to Mayo Clinic, Multiple Myeloma causes cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow, where they crowd out healthy blood cells.
Lisa was diagnosed with cancer in 2009. She is now cancer free and became a proud mother to twin girls Sufi and Soleil - via surrogacy in 2018. She wrote about her tough journey to motherhood while announcing the birth of her daughters.
