Summers are here and we all are looking forward to enjoying sunny days at the pool or sipping our favourite drinks while having a good time with our friends. While summer is the best time to enjoy and relax, it does bring quite a few health issues along with it.
Dehydration, bacterial infections, stomach infections and heat strokes to name a few. It is very important to take care of what we eat and drink to survive the sweltering summer heat. Here are a few tips that you must keep in mind during the summers.
This can never be stressed enough. One of the basic rules to maintain your physical health is to drink at least 8-10 glasses to water every day.
During summers, proper hydration will regulate your body temperature. Also, make sure that you do not drink very chilled water as it can cause serious complications when your body temperature is high.
Include a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. You can take them on the form of salads or vegetable smoothies. Also try to add little or no sugar and dressing as much as possible.
Lower your intake of fried food items such as samosas, vada pavs, pakoras, chips etc. Fat has a thermal effect on our bodies.
Instead of eating onions, garlic, spinach and beetroot incorporate food items like watermelons, coconut water, cucumbers, fennel seeds. These provide a cooling effect on the body.
Summers make you feel thirsty very often.
Try to cut back on strenuous activities as they raise your core temperature. Increase in body temperature can cause a lot of sweating which in turn leads to dehydration and loss of electrolytes from the body.
Good hygiene is the key to good physical health. Maintain your hygiene and summers will be good for you.
