World Rabies Day is observed on 28 September every year since the year 2007. It aims at spreading awareness about the life-threatening disease that is 100% preventable yet kills more than 21,000 people every year in India.

Health organisations have been organising various vaccination camps, veterinary examination booths, quiz contests, essay writing competitions, race marathons, etc. in order to educate more and more people about the spread and prevention of the disease.

The theme of 2021 'Rabies- facts, not fears' emphasises on the unnecessary fear people have regarding the spread of the disease and its vaccination.

It is important to gain knowledge, be aware of the facts of the disease and spread awareness, assisting the World Health Organisation with its mission to eradicate rabies by the year 2030.
