Cricket fans across the world were left in shock when reports of former cricket Arun Lal battling with jaw cancer surfaced in the media.
According to The Hindu, the cricketer turned commentator is currently in a hospital in Kolkata and has undergone a 14-hour long surgery.
When the cricketing world was busy with Asia Cup, ICC World T20 and IPL, Arun Lal had been silently away from the spotlight, getting treated. The 60-year-old commentator underwent a jaw replacement.
Many cricketers called Lal to ask about his condition, but the most prominent among them was Yuvraj Singh.
Rajya Sabha MP and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu also wished Arun Lal a speedy recovery and said,” I am looking forward to a stint with him.”
On being asked when he was expected to be back in the commentary box, Lal said that he will be back soon.
Cricket fans on social media prayed for his speedy recovery.
Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle also expressed his support.
The honorary secretary of the BCCI tweeted his admiration for Lal’s courage and grit.
