An official order by Health Minister Harsh Vardhan surfaced on the internet on 28 June that says that biscuits will not be served in official government meetings anymore. The order read as follows:

The order mentions healthy snacks that would instead be served. It includes dried chana, khajoor (dates), badam (almonds) and akhrot (walnut). It adds that the use of plastic bottles will also be cut down.

This comes across as perhaps the first targeted, public attempt by the Health Ministry to implement changes when it comes to their own officials. While the move is definitely a health-conscious one, it would be interesting to see how the implementation pans out.

Biscuits, though baked, are high in sugar, preservatives and maida - hence not the best options for the stomach, digestion and an overall attempt to stay healthy. The new replacements are high in protein and other essential nutrients.
