More than 1 million new cases of cancer are diagnosed every year in India. A third of these are preventable.

Cancer kills more people on a global scale than AIDS, Malaria and TB combined. It is the second most common cause of death in India (after cardiac illnesses).

The World Health Organisation notes that in 10 years, the number of cancer cases in India will multiply five times, with a higher spike in women than men.
