Formerly conjoined twins Jaga and Balia will be returning to Odisha on 7 September, Saturday, after successfully getting separated at AIIMS, New Delhi.
Addressing the media on the day of their discharge from the hospital, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan congratulated the team for its ‘unique achievement’ in this ‘extremely rare case of cranopagus conjoined twins’.
In a series of tweets, the Ministry of Health elaborated on the event’s proceedings.
Odisha Sun Times reported that the two brothers will be admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack for further treatment. It quoted state Health Minister Naba Das as saying,
The twins had been separated by a team of doctors at AIIMS after a surgery that spanned 21 hours in October 2017.
