One of the world’s most appreciated comedians, media critics and The Late Night Show host Stephen Colbert, recently met with Yamini Joshi, an Indian-American, to learn about Indian cooking. Needless to say, it is one of the best things we will see this week.

High Fives All Around For Bridging Cultures

Colbert met Joshi to learn about what Indians eat and what they don’t. And although all things meat were a big no-no for Joshi, the two soon found one thing in common – deep-fried food tastes amazing!

“All food deep fried is the best.”

Clueless But Cute

Although clearly a little clueless, Joshi agreed with Colbert when he said all the Indian spices were named for the Game of Thrones show. How cute!

More like GoT characters were named after Indian spices!

Ghee is Good

When Paula Dean, “the fat lady”, came up, things got infinitely better.

Colbert apologised on Dean’s behalf and said that she used a quarter pound of butter in all her cooking.

We in India, however, use ghee in almost everything, from hot parathas to yummy pav bhajis. Don’t worry, it’s clarified butter and it is good for you.

Welcome to India where ghee is as good as it can get.

Ingenious Indian Invention

Well duh, Colbert! We are of course from the land of some fantastic inventions. He was so fascinated by the tongs, or “chimta” as we call it in our kitchens, that he decided to try out this himself.

Bravo! Wasn’t that fun?

Say Shava Shava!

Of course they break into a Bollywood dance song. Its a happy happy occasion after all. Joshi makes an adorable dance choreographer.

Clearly Colbert is a Bollywood pro. Waah waah.

Nice hip movements, dude!

Thank heavens this video exists. What a perfect mid-week pick-me-up.
