On Thursday, actress Vidya Balan said that she would not give back her National Award as it was an honour bestowed on her by the country and not the government. Balan said so at the India Today Conclave in Mumbai while reacting to the news of filmmakers returning their National Awards in protest against the growing intolerance.

This honour is by the nation and not the government. So I do not want to return it.
