What better way to end the MAMI Movie Mela than a fun chat with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Karan Johar sat down with these two stars – no not for a ‘koffee’ – but for a fun conversation about movies, passion and of course, nepotism.
Nepotism is the hot topic of the day, and therefore, Karan Johar couldn’t resist but ask the two star kids how they defended themselves when the topic of nepotism came up – and their answers made sense.
Ranbir thinks his great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor worked hard and made a place in the film industry so that he could give his children an opportunity, which helped them achieve something in their life, and eventually, this opportunity opened doors for him. The same way, he would also like to give his children an opportunity, where they have something to do, which would also depend on how good they are.
Alia, on the other hand, is very clear on one thing – while she is very grateful, she has also worked really hard to be where she is today, and is unapologetic that she is born to her father Mahesh Bhatt.
Alia has a knack for taking criticism or a joke with a smile. So, when asked about what she thinks about the jokes on her that keep doing the rounds, she says she finds them very funny and enjoys them. The audience cracked up when she shared her favourite Alia joke.
“Alia goes to buy India’s national flag, she looks at it and says ‘Bhaiya, aur koi colour hai?’”
LOL!
When asked about how do they feel about being competitive with other actors, or if they feel jealous, this what Ali had to say.
As we all know is that in the film industry, the career span of an actress is short lived, while an actor gets to enjoy stardom for much longer. Therefore, when Alia was asked about being insecure about being an actress, she says she feels the trend is changing, and eventually, it all depends on our writers now.
Alia hopes to continue her acting journey till the age of 90. She said, "I hope I will be acting till I am 90, and that I say bye bye to the world from a film set."
