A dream-team of Zoya Akhtar (Gully Boy), Nitya Mehra (Baar Baar Dekho), Alankrita Shrivastava (Lipstick Under My Burkha) and Prashant Nair (Delhi In A Day) have come together to form the edgiest web-series on the block.
Made in Heaven, an amazon Prime Original starring Arjun Mathur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Shashank Arora and Shivani Raghuvanshi, is the story of two wedding planners promising couples their ‘happy ever after’, while also displaying what seems to be the ugly truth of the complexities around relationships.
The two leads - wedding planners Tara (Shobhita) and Karan (Arjun Mathur) are a modern day Anushka and Ranveer from Band Baaja Baaraat.
But while they try and deliver the perfect wedding for couples, they are grappling with their own personal problems. Tara, who seems to be uber practical and composed all the time, suspects her husband of infidelity. Karan, has not come out of the closet yet and is dealing with his boyfriend - who is planning to get married.
Through them, and the other characters that they are dealing with amid the backscore of shaadi season and the many expectations and disappointments that come with it, Made in Heaven seems to be an apt, ironic portrayal of the Desi wedding market - and is set to release tentatively on 8 March on Amazon Prime Video.
