Looks like Game of Thrones Season 8 won’t stop disappointing fans for a while. Just as the fans were getting over the end of the series (and the sad treatment of the final season!), the makers of the show have given one more reason for us to be upset. HBO has submitted the most vilified episodes for Emmy awards.
In the ‘Best Direction’ category, the network has submitted DB Weiss and David Benioff’s The Iron Throne, which was the final episode and the most criticized one. Along with it, also submitted are Miguel Sapochnik’s name The Long Night and David Nutter’s The Last of the Starks. What’s surprising is that the season’s only two acclaimed episodes - Winterfell and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - were conveniently ignored in the race for Emmy nominations. The final episode has even been submitted for the ‘Best Writing’ category! Well, it couldn’t be more ironic, could it? Given that the episode led fans worldwide to sign a petition for remaking the show.
Twitter couldn’t control it when they saw this happening and fans wasted no time in shaming the show and the network. Take a look.
Overall, Game of Thrones will compete for the top award, Best Drama Series, as well as the Main Title Design, Casting, Editing, Stunt Coordination, Music, and Sound Mixing categories.
Since it began in 2011, the fantasy-drama has been a regular at the Emmy Awards and has won 42 awards out of the 132 nominations so far. However, with the kind of ratings, fan reviews and now the ‘walk of shame’ on Twitter, we doubt the number of wins this year.
