Royalty graced the ‘Koffee Couch’ as actor-in-waiting Sara Ali Khan made her debut on Koffee with Karan, along with her father Saif Ali Khan. The father-daughter duo got candid and honest on the show as they discussed their “quintessential modern beautiful family” (as Karan put it), their dynamics with each other and Sara’s debut in the film industry.
Here are some of the highlights from tonight’s episode:
Karan Johar asked pointed questions with regard to the equation Sara shares with Saif’s wife Kareena Kapoor. Karan asked Sara about when she thought she needed to be pragmatic about the whole situation. Sara responded saying that, “everyone had been extremely clear with her with their equations with each other and nothing was ever forced upon her. “
She jokes about what it would be like if she had to address Kareena Kapoor as her second mother or call her “Chotti Ma” or something corny like that!
There are many moments in the show where Sara shines with her amazing sense of humor.
She makes several jokes at the expense of her parents, their divorce and herself. Karan said that Saif was his lucky charm as the first episode of the now famous show was recorded on 16 August 2004, a day after Amrita Singh “threw him out of the house.”
She then even winks for the camera!
The Bollywood director went on to show videos of Sara from her days at the Columbia University where she is seen lip syncing to popular songs. However, this does not phase the star as she continues to stay proud and as confident as ever!
Like every other Koffee episode, Karan finds another “elephant” in the room to talk about. This time it is none other than Taimur Ali Khan himself. Since Taimur is too young to talk about his popularity, Karan invites a number of photo journalists to talk about Taimur.
They also discuss how Taimur has the highest numbers on the “rate card.”
Saif Ali Khan unabashedly talks about his sex life with Kareena Kapoor, making his daughter Sara and us, the audience extremely uncomfortable. We finally understood what Kanta Ben from Kal Ho Na Ho was going through.
Karan has an open discussion with Saif and his relationship with Sara’s past boyfriends. He further asks him what three question he would ask Sara’s boyfriend. Saif says “political views, drugs,” but before he could complete his answer, Karan said that “money would be a nice question to ask.”

The stars play a game wherein both Sara and Saif have to name actors whose first name starts with the letter ‘S’. After listing a couple of actors, Saif struggles to remember any other names and screams “Salim”. Turns it, Salim is a nobody.
He later also is named to name “pet names” of actors and says “Bitto” and then claims that is fictional Salim’s pet name.
Both father and daughter do exceptionally well in the ‘Rapid Fire’ round and give us just the fire we want to see! Without shying away from any questions , both of them answer every questions with no diplomacy whatsoever. S
Sara confesses that she prefers working with Ranveer Singh over Sushant Singh Rajput and Saif says that he would never take career advice from Vivek Oberoi!
