Disha Vakani Steps Into Daya Ben’s Shoes Again for ‘Tarak Mehta..’

But will her return be permanent?

For the fans of television comedy show Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma there’s a surprise in store. According to reports, actor Disha Vakani, who played the iconic character of Daya Ben on the show, will be seen again but only in the capacity of a cameo.

According to sources close to the development, Vakani recently shot a special scene for the show. In the scene, she will be seen having a phone conversation with Jethalal. But that’s all. Vakani’s appearance will be brief.

Asit Kumarr Modi of production house Neela Telefilms recently told News 18 that talks between the makers and Vakani are still on and he hopes that it will reach a conclusion soon.

In the recent past, there has been much buzz about Vakani’s permanent return to the show. However, there has been no official announcement by the makers, even though they have been sharing teasers featuring Daya Ben and keeping their viewers on the edge. Asit Kumarr Modi of production house Neela Telefilms recently told News 18 that talks between the makers and Vakani are still on and he hopes that it will reach a conclusion soon. The sentiment was echoed by her real-life husband Mayur who told entertainment website Pinkvilla that she had shot for a cameo in Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma but her permanent return to the show remains uncertain at this point.

On the other hand, some reports suggest that she might not return to the show for a full-fledged role at all.

A couple of years ago, Disha Vakani got pregnant and quit the show post giving birth. She hasn’t been a part of the show since.
