In an exclusive chat, A Flying Jatt star Tiger Shroff tells The Quint all about his superhero journey, being compared to his dad Jackie Shroff and Hrithik Roshan, and why he can’t wait to work with Karan Johar.

Q: Tiger, are you nervous about playing a super-hero in A Flying Jatt so early in your career?

Tiger Shroff: It’s a blessing and a responsibility, so yes I am, and I am not nervous. I am  nervous because it’s those typical near release jitters. And no because out of the three films I have done I feel the most secure about this one. I’m confident because when people see the film they will realise it was pointless comparing my superhero to the others, as the characters are poles apart. And besides, A Flying Jatt is a huge fan of both Krrish and Captain America.

Q: You’ve been signed to play the lead in  the sequel to Student Of The Year. How does it feel to be a part of Karan Johar’s posh plans?

Tiger Shroff: Posh? Oh Gosh! Blessed to be a part of Karan sir’s team. Hope I help the director Punit take Karan sir’s franchise to a level that the audiences will never forget. There’a so much scope and potential in that franchise. And for me to follow the original students ….Man, they all are tough acts to follow!

Q: You’re getting a  lot of support for A Flying Jatt from within the film industry. How do you feel about that?

Tiger Shroff: Overwhelming and grateful that so many people have appreciated the promos. It is the best feeling when our hard work is appreciated, especially from those you look up to. Hrithik sir has been especially supportive. He is and always will be the greatest superhero. I’m a fan of his and his alter ego Krissh. I’ve watched his film a million times to study his body language and the costumes.

Q: So now, do you expect your superhero to be be compared with Hrithik Roshan?

Tiger Shroff: No way! I can’t even begin to be compared with Hrithik sir. He is  the best. My Flying Jatt is Remo sir’s attempt to do a different take on the superhero genre. We cannot compare it with Krissh.

Q: Your dad Jackie Shroff did a super-hero film Shiva Ka Insaaf 30 years ago...

Tiger Shroff: That’s my all-time favourite film of my dad’s! As a child I’ve watched it over and over again. Every son’s first  hero is his father. My dad was my first superhero. For me, he was Superman and Batman combined. I loved to see my dad play the desi superhero. My father didn’t have to try to be a superhero. It came naturally to him. He was tall, well built, and his body language rendered itself effortlessly to the superhero mould. I had to work hard to get into the superhero mould. I hope I’m not compared with my father or with Hrithik sir.

Q: Would you like to make a comment on your alleged relationship with Disha Patani?

Tiger Shroff: Ek hi ‘Disha’ hai mere liye. Work work and more work. I’d be the most unlikely candidate to get into a relationship at this stage of my life, when my entire focus is on my career. My only love is my work. Besides, I am very bad at multi-tasking. I’d like to focus on only one aspect of my life currently.
