Sonam & Abhijeet Spar Over Shobhaa De’s ‘Rio Olympics’ Tweet

Singer Abhijeet and Sonam Kapoor spar over Shobhaa De’s snide tweets about Olympians representing India this year.

Twitter wars over Shobhaa De’s controversial tweet about the Indian contingent taking the Rio Olympics casually, went a step further when singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya called Shobhaa De a besharam budhiya (shameless old woman) on Twitter.

Actress Sonam Kapoor locked horns with the singer calling him a hypocrite.

Shobhaa De, the self-appointed ‘opinion shaper’ and ‘authority on popular culture’ made a scathing remark about Indian athletes at the Olympics this year, which garnered a lot of negative reactions from sport personalities and twitterati alike.

De questioned the calibre of our contingent and their commitment, with one exception, Abhinav Bindra.

Abhijeet, who is often quite aggressive and explosive on Twitter, then attacked Sonam’s filmy background among other things, for defending the author.

The Neerja actress defended her stand and decided to quit the conversation before things got uglier. But Abhijeet didn’t give up. He continued to lash out at Shobhaa and Sonam.

AIB’s Rohan Joshi and Tanmay Bhat in the meantime had their two cents to add about internet trolls.
