The first look of Shankar’s 2.0, starring Super Star Rajinikanth was unveiled in Mumbai (uh-oh!). The event was hosted by Karan Johar (Ayyo!) and featured a special guest appearance by Salman Khan (Ayyayyo!). That’s it! As a Chennaiite, I feel broken right now. For an event to be considered pan-India, does it have to be held in Mumbai? This is one of those instances in life where both WTF and FTW are apt eviscerations.

You know what this feels like? This feels like an NRI aunty of a long-distance second cousin twice removed coming to you with a zip-lock bag of Toblerones and Hershey’s kisses, and those annoying key-chain torch lights and saying, ‘Ye lo beta! Foreign chocolates!’

There was a time when a Rajini fan used to feel like God! In 2010, when the trailer of the first Robo movie was released, we paid seventy rupees to go watch it in Sathyam cinemas. Seventy rupees. Just for the trailer. And then came Kabali. Hundreds and thousands of fans, willing to wait for over twelve hours for that first day first show tickets; their hopes dashed to the ground when they found that all shows were booked even before the movie was released. And now this!

WTF? FTW!
