Best remembered for her role as Pooja Mehta in Ye Meri Life Hai, Shama Sikander has, it would seem, hit the high notes, or at least that’s what her Instagram profile seems to be saying. They say art imitates life and the irony isn’t missed here. Much like the middle class Gujarati girl, who dreams of hitting the big league one day, Shama has traded in her Rajasthani roots as it were for glitzier climes.

A newly engaged Shama has been on a roll posting videos and pictures of her recent trip to Udaipur. James Milliron, her American beau, put a ring on her finger on New Year’s Eve in Dubai. Apart from the newly acquired fiancé, Shama has a spanking new accent!

What’s amazing is that Shama is a before and after story and is almost unrecognisable from her TV heydays. Scroll through the pictures below to get the drift! They may just make you say WTF!

Whispers of several visits to the plastic surgeon’s office have trickled in over time. But what the hey! They seem to be reaping major dividends!

Despite a slew of forgettable roles in films, Shama’s brush with fame was momentary. Ye Meri Life Hai wrapped up as early as 2005 and since then Shama has been in the news more for her off-screen presence than on-screen. After a four-year-long relationship with musical artist Alex O’Nell, Shama decided to end things, insisting they were still friends.

Quite a long way from two-bit roles in Hindi films don’t you think?
