According to reports, Sanjay Dutt earned Rs 38,000 as salary in prison over his five-year term but will be leaving the Yerwada Central Prison with just Rs 450. The actor has spent the rest of his earnings on daily use items while in jail.
As a semi-skilled worker, Dutt made paper bags during his imprisonment and received a daily wage of Rs 50. A report in the Times of India says that Dutt’s salary was calculated after excluding 256 days of leave on parole and furlough granted by the Pune Divisional commissioner and Deputy Inspector General (Wester Region) of the prisons department.
Dutt was apparently confined to a high security cell for safety reasons and was also a RJ on the prison’s FM channel. Sources to TOI say that he has become quite popular among the inmates since he began performing as an RJ twice in a week, to entertain and reduce stress levels of the prisoners. The actor is expected to walk out of prison on February 25th.
