True to the award, the Oscar’s were absolutely golden this year. Sam Smith and his songwriter partner Jimmy Napes bagged the award for Best Original Song for Spectre’s theme song, Writing’s on the Wall.

What was even better than Smith winning his first Academy Award was that he dedicated it to the entire LGBTQ community.

I want to dedicate this to the LGBTQ community around the world. I stand here tonight as a proud gay man, and I hope we can all stand together as equals one day.

Smith made the dedication after actor Sir Ian Mckellan made a comment about gay people being underrepresented at the Oscars.

But, of course, Twitter-sphere broke into congratulations to the LGBTQ advocate.
