For the first time since Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (where he appeared as Anakin Skywalker), fans of the multi-billion dollar franchise will get to see Darth Vader.
A glimpse of the mega-villain was shown in the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer released on Friday morning. The events in this movie take place between Episode III (Revenge of the Sith released in 2005) and Episode IV (A New Hope released in 1977) when the Death Star was being built and Vader terrorised the galaxy with this Stormtroopers.
Fans also caught a glimpse of the Imperial Star Destroyers, the Death Star, and classic battle scenes with TIE fighters. The legendary actor James Earl Jones is back as the sinister voice of Darth Vader.
The film’s plot revolves around the rebel group’s theft of the plans to the Death Star, which Luke Skywalker blew up in A New Hope.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is expected in theatres on December 16, 2016.
It is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed, among several others.
