After all the hue and cry over the casting musical chairs in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh, who was rumoured to be contemplating a quiet exit from the project, is back in the film.
Bhansali and Ranveer have collaborated over two blockbusters in the past, namely Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani. Ranveer hence was the natural and only choice to play the antagonistic warrior Allauddin Khilji, who covets the Rajasthani queen Padmavati, to be played by Deepika Padukone.
While names of various A-list stars, from Shah Rukh Khan to Hrithik Roshan were conveniently planted as replacements, Ranveer remained gracefully mum on the subject.
“Both Bhansali and Ranveer knew Padmavati couldn’t be made without Ranveer. They held their peace and enjoyed all the speculation about Ranveer’s replacement,” says a source. A few days back, the actor and director met and ironed out their differences.
