(Spoiler Alert: This piece definitely contains Ae Dil Hai Mushkil spoilers. Be warned!)
We have watched Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and even though it’s a total Karan Johar-chaap picture you won’t be able to miss the insane similarities between Rockstar and ADHM.
Here’s why we had a déjà vu kinda feeling while watching this Ranbir Kapoor-starrer:
Duh! Of course the man himself, Ranbir Kapoor. He’s the rockstar in Rockstar and he’s the guy with a lot of mushkil in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
So the hero and heroine have a BFF vibe and are living it up (I am still talking about ADHM) which suddenly changes because naturally hero ko pyaar ho gaya apne best friend se. For once I wished there was no romance and only bromance.
The hero's dream is to become a successful singer and if he ends up becoming a rockstar, toh bonus!
And then shit happens! The heroine gets married to someone else.
To become a successful singer you have to experience pain (I still don’t know what this concept is) and yahan toh life mein koi problem hi nahi hai, until the heroine gets married and real heartbreak and ache happens.
Result? Beautiful songs (I am still talking about ADHM) means he is a rockstar who is killing it thanks to the girl who broke his heart (I am talking about Rockstar now).
But wait the heroine has to make a come back in the hero's life but this time with some kinda terminal disease! (Am I talking about Rockstar or ADHM? Go figure)
By the end of this we are confused if we are watching a remake of Imtiaz Ali’s film or Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (actually it’s the same thing just with filthy rich people)
Hero comes to know heroine is sick so spends every minute with the heroine jab tak hai jaan... jab tak hai jaan. Thankfully, only Anushka Sharma and SRK are the common factors in Jab Tak Hai Jaan and ADHM.
