1. Priyanka Chopra’s Tribute to Women in the Police Force

On Monday night, Priyanka Chopra finally reacted to the news of her being awarded the Padma Shri on Twitter with this post:

The actress then went on to individually congratulate her colleagues including Anupam Kher, Rajinikanth, Madhur Bhandarkar, Ajay Devgn and others for their Padma honours as well.

On Tuesday, as tribute to the women in India’s police force on Republic Day, Priyanka dedicated a special version of the national anthem as part of the promotions of her upcoming film Jai Gangaajal.

2. Rekha Receives the Yash Chopra Memorial Award

Veteran actress Rekha received the Yash Chopra Memorial Award this year. The annual award has been instituted by the TSR Foundation of T Subbarami Reddy in memory of one of Bollywood’s most popular filmmakers, Yash Chopra, who passed away in 2012. Speaking on the occasion, Rekha said that, Yash Chopra had taught her how to love.

<p>Talking about Yashji would be like ‘chota muh badi baat’... what can we say about him? I’d like to definitely state that he taught me how to love. Not just by watching his films, I understand ‘Oh, this is love’, not just by speaking or watching that there is beauty and a very tender emotion, but a feeling that is invisible which every person definitely feels it - that Yashji taught me.</p>

3. Kamal Haasan Makes His Debut on Twitter

Popular Tamil star Kamal Haasan made his debut on Twitter on Tuesday. It being Republic Day, Haasan’s first tweet reminded everyone of India’s struggle for independence and included a video of the actor’s rendition of the national anthem under music director Ilaiyaraaja’s baton.

Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan welcomed her dad on Twitter with this tweet:

4. Eros International Announces Its Slate of Films for 2016

After a hugely successful run at the box office last year, Eros International announced its slate of films for 2016. The studio had hits like NH10, Badlapur, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Bajirao Mastani to its credit in 2015.

This year, Eros will be bankrolling a good number of star-studded projects including R Balki’s Ki & Ka, featuring Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif starrer Baar Baar Dekho, Rock On 2 with Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Rampal, and Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay among other projects.

5. Pakistan Bans Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 for Vulgar Content

Aftab Shivdasani, Tusshar Kapoor and Madana Karimi starrer Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 has been declared unsuitable for public viewing in Pakistan by the country’s censor board. According to PTI, the Pakistani CBFC chief declared that:

<p>The film is full of nudity and has a lot of vulgar content in its dialogues. The board has officially disallowed the film from public viewing.</p>

Mr Hasan said the film couldn’t be allowed for public viewing even with an adult rating as it was overtly vulgar. Back home, the film was released with over 100 cuts by the Indian CBFC on January 22nd.
