Resul Pookutty won’t be directing the remake of the Malayalam film Premam, as is being reported by several media groups. It was reported that the Academy Award winning sound designer, editor and mixer will be making his debut as a director with the Hindi remake of the successful Nivin Pauly-starrer.
However, when contacted, Resul conveyed to The Quint that he is not directing the Premam remake - but he will be producing it. The Hindi version of Premam is being co-produced by Resul’s La Penta Motion Pictures and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
While there has been news that Arjun Kapoor will be stepping into Nivin Pauly’s shoes for the Bollywood version, Resul refused to confirm the casting yet. “I’m not talking about anything unless things are confirmed. I don’t want to be a part of a speculative business!” clarified Resul.
Meanwhile, Resul Pookutty will indeed be making his debut as a director soon. But, he is working on an original script for his first film. Here’s looking forward to hearing an official announcement from the man himself soon.
