Randy Kent, a Hollywood-based director, had agreed to direct the Kannada film Road King. The film starred his friend and actor Mateen Hussain, and the latter had convinced him to get on board.

In his attempt to get to India however, he hit a road block. He couldn’t get a visa but Mateen had an idea; he suggested they do it over Skype. Not one to be easily deterred, Randy Kent agreed. Road King is the first ever Indian film with a Hollywood director that has been directed over Skype.

Given that Road King was a low budget film, Skype solved another problem; it helped keep costs low. An “adventurous filmmaker,” Randy Kent was up for the unusual challenge.

Randy is an adventurous film-maker. When I broached the idea, he did not think twice. We even took the laptop to locations to show spots to Randy and finalise things.
