Also, yours truly has seen the original Deadpool 2 in English and the Hindi dubbed version, and can therefore declare that both of them are absolute winners! The ‘aapaar safalta” of the previous installment thankfully doesn’t weigh it down. The English original is funny, has meta humour, is self-referential and deserves a watch for sure.

The Hindi version also makes for a great watch, with customised dialogues teeming with desi references and Ranveer Singh and Bhuvan Bam’s rib-tickling audio antics.

So, “Family is an F-word” becomes “P se Parivaar, P se Pungi”, “Let’s name our kids Connor or May” is “hum apne bachhe ka naam Jignes rakhenge ya Jigna”.

A hat tip to Dangal’s Gita and Babita, Singham, Munna and Circuit, Demonetisation, Modi Ji, Rs 2000 ke notes and even a dialogue saying “X force mein aane ke liye Aadhaar Card link kerwana padta hai”.

The reverential tone of Deadpool 2 is similar to its predecessor with as many double-meaning jokes and direct sexual references. But what is different is that we delve deeper into the inner turmoil of Wade.

There is as much of Wade as his mutant Deadpool self. He yearns for companionship and wants to be with Vanessa (Morena Baccarin).

However things don’t go exactly as planned and he instead divides his time between Colossus (Stefan Kapicic’s voice), Cable (Josh Brolin), Juggernaut and trying to rescue a mutant kid Russell (Julian Dennison) also called Firefist.

Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool and each time he looks straight into the camera and says the exact same thing that we the viewers at that time are thinking, it proved to be a complete “paisa-vasool”.

But the one who is having the best time of his life is Josh Brolin. He played Thanos in Avengers and is now the time travelling mutant soldier Cable. It’s no wonder then that when Deadpool calls Cable – Thanos, in a particular scene, the audience simply couldn’t control their excitement!

If Deadpool 1 had “Mera joota hai Japani” playing in Dopinder’s cab, this time we get to hear Udit Narayan’s “Yuhin Chala Chal Rahi” from Swades. For Desi audiences that’s another moment to cheer for!

Go watch Deadpool 2 for its hilariously twisted superhero and some very smart writing. The Hindi dubbed version has managed to customise the dialogues with just the right amount of desi masala. I’ll give it 4.5 Quints out of 5. Most important – remember to not miss the mid-credits and the end sequence. It’s the funniest thing you would have seen in a while.
