Baaghi 2 isn't really much of a rebel. Although it shares Tiger Shroff and his proclivity for breaking bones with its predecessor Baaghi, it conforms to a formula "perceived" by some in Bollywood to guarantee a hit.

The formula? An ‘item number’ with Jacqueline Fernandez gyrating to what is now widely considered a sacrilegious remix of the iconic song ‘Ek Do Teen’, crowd pleasing dialogues, promise of some hardcore action sequences , a shirtless and bronzed Shroff and an ever smiling Disha Patani.

There are also Randeep Hooda, Manoj Bajpai and Deepak Dobriyal, incase you accuse the makers of casting no one with hardcore acting skills!

Shroff Junior's gym exercise routine seems to be on point. Ranveer Pratap Singh is a fauji who takes a week's chhutti to attend to some personal matters . And that's how Baaghi 2 sets off.

Thankfully, there are no pressing issues of national security to distract our hero. The narrative has lots of flashbacks inserted in it and the details bleed out slowly.

So, our present-day fauji was a basketball-playing cool dude in college where he met Miss Congeniality Neha aka Patani and what followed was total pyaar . But ladki kaa baap played spoilsport and the rest you can assume.

Neha, is now married. She has also suffered an accident and as a result, is quite shaken up. Her daughter Riya is missing and Ranveer must save the child. The rest, like I said, you can assume. That is the problem with the entire film. The audience always seems to be one step ahead of the hero, and that’s frankly no fun. He takes time catching up and unfolding the mystery of the missing kid.

There is rona dhona by the mother, which makes one realise that although Patani has the most gorgeous smile, she can't cry! She can't act too, but as long as you agree to let her gorgeousness distract you, all is good.

There is Shroff giving her company in the no-acting department but somehow he endears himself to us. Shroff seems such a lost kid in this world where Bajpai, Dobriyal, Hooda and even Prateik Babbar make the most of the badly sketched characters they have got. Looks like he beats his opponents black and blue just out of sheer frustration.

It’ll suffice to say the story doesn’t make much sense. Bajpai and Hooda play police officers with questionable characters and costumes. And the actions sequences in the last 40 minutes go on and on, relentlessly.

However, Shroff deserves credit for what he gets right. Few can fight like he does and there is plenty of action on display, especially post-interval. For those who want to watch his swift movements and deadly kicks or those who consider themselves dedicated Disha Patani fans, Baaghi 2 can be a one-time-watch.
