One of Kerala’s biggest superstars, Mohanlal, has come out in support of the Prime Minister’s crackdown on black money. The actor posted a blog in his usual handwritten letter format on his Facebook page, in which he described Narendra Modi’s demonetisation drive as a sincere surgical strike against corruption.
Mohanlal begins his letter by stating that he is currently shooting in a remote village in Rajasthan for a film and it was here that he got to know about the PM’s decision to discontinue Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes as legal tender on 8 November. The actor goes on to say that he idolizes ideas over people and that he sees this move by the government as a step towards fighting black money. He also assures his fans that though there will be immediate inconveniences, there will also be long term benefits.
The actor says that he supports the move because almost every individual in our society has willingly or unwillingly become a victim of corruption and this needs to change. While ending his blog, Mohanlal tells his readers that the overnight demonetisation decision has adversely affected film shoots too but they are bearing with it because it is for the betterment of the nation.
