The words ‘peace’ and ‘harmony’ regrettably elude us in today’s world. These two words have been crushed by wars, conflict and hatred repeatedly, leaving the world and its people in a deplorable state, emotionally and physically.

In times like these, we all need a miracle, or maybe a superhero to fix the things around us.

Remember Mantis from Guardians of The Galaxy? She is the superhero we need today. Blessed with one of the most unique superpowers of psychic empathy, while being one of the underrated characters of the Marvel universe, Mantis is the one who can literally heal the world. Who could’ve ever thought of empathy being a superpower, right?

Mantis can sense and experience a person's emotions by just touching the person and even control them if needed. She can literally make a sad person happy, or calm down an angry one. I’m sure you might be thinking that a super power like this can barely do anything in tragic situations, but where does it all start?

Psychic empathy is one incredible ability that can alter emotions. So imagine what could happen if the feeling of hatred could be altered, and replaced with love! From the shrieking voices of mass shootings to survivors of sexual abuse roaring #MeToo - all of it could be erased.

Unfortunately, Mantis was among those who disintegrated at the hands of Thanos in the last Avengers movie, but we hope the reel world gets back its much needed psychic superhero in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.

Truth is that even though Mantis might appear to be someone who does not demonstrate having great physical strength, her resilience to injury doesn’t differ much from that of Gamora or Drax.

From making Ego fall asleep, to being able to send Thanos into a state of half-consciousness with a mere touch - Mantis can do it all. If her character existed in real life, the world would’ve been a much better place.

The world they show in superhero movies is nothing like the world we live in. While someone like Captain America or Thor might be the first names that pop in our heads when we say the words ‘powerful superheroes’, ask yourself, which superhero does the world really need today?
