Actor Mahira Khan is once again caught in controversy, receiving brickbats from the public. Her film Verna recently hit the screens after a lot of hiccups because of the film’s plot. The movie is the story of a survivor who was raped by a governor's son.
The film had failed to get a green signal from the Censor Board in Pakistan for “mature themes” and “edgy content” shown in the film. Many came out in its support, condemning the Pakistan Central Board of Film Certification's move.
Now that the film has released, Mahira Khan, who plays the rape survivor in film, shared what she says is the disclaimer shown before the film begins.
It is still not verified if the disclaimer appears before the film starts. But a lot of Twitteratti hit back at her saying she is failing to show all that is good about Pakistan. projecting a wrong image of the country to the world.
But many lauded her for her bold move and said how we should have more movies that give power to the rape survivor rather than put her in the corner.
And there was a section of netizens on #NerdAlert pointing out the word ‘countries’ was misspelt in the disclaimer.
Mahira Khan had hit headlines sometime back when photos of her smoking in New York with Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor did the rounds.
