We’re one step closer to the final winners of the 88th Academy awards. Atleast we know who we should be rooting for! So here goes-

Who’s In the BIG race?

Best Actor: Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender, Eddie Redmayne

Best Actress: Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlotte Rampling, Saoirse Ronan

Best Motion Picture: The Big Short, Bridge Of Spies, Brooklyn, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant, Room, Spotlight

Hollywood is gearing up for a big day.

The nominees for the 88th Academy Awards are about to be announced. So watch closely for live updates right here.

The race to the 88th Academy Awards is about to be flagged off with the announcement of this year’s nominees (Photo: AP)

Directors Guillermo del Toro and Ang Lee will be start off by presenting the nominees in the first few categories: Animated Feature Film, Cinematography, Costume Design, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Song, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.

Then, popular actor John Krasinski will take over, along with Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, to announce the next 13 categories: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Directing, Film Editing, Foreign Language Film, Original Score, Best Picture, Production Design, Visual Effects, Adapted Screenplay and Original Screenplay.

But we will have to wait for February 28th for the final results. The 88th Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, California.

While we wait, here’s the top Oscar question at the moment: Why hasn’t Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar yet? We’re certainly hoping that he’ll win this year, are you too?
