Second Look of ‘Petta’ Reveals Rajinikanth’s Rustic Look

Sun Pictures on Thursday, 4 October revealed the second look of Rajinikanth’s Petta. Donning an all-white attire with the handlebar moustache, the star is seen smiling and basking in the orange glow of the sun in the background.

The film’s motion poster was released almost a month ago and the second one only amps up the excitement for the fans. Read more here.

The Vamps Excited to Return to India After 2 Years

Britain-based boy band The Vamps is set to return to India after a gap of two years for a week-long stay. The four-member band is looking forward to showcase their new music at two shows.

The band, which performed at 2016's Global Citizen Festival, will arrive here on October 23. They will perform in Pune and Mumbai on October 25 and October 27 respectively, reports IANS.

Sharing their excitement, members of the band said in a statement: "We're really looking forward to performing in India. Our last visit was unforgettable and we had a great time. We cannot wait to be back to play two amazing shows and showcase new music to our incredible fans."

James McVey (lead guitarist and vocalist), Brad Simpson (lead vocals and guitar), Connor Ball (bass guitar and vocals) and Tristan Evans (drums and vocals) form the quartet.

NSD Appoints Ebrahim Alkazi Chair, Selects Artist-In-Residence

The National School of Drama (NSD) has appointed senior theatre practitioner Mohan Maharishi as its Ebrahim Alkazi Chair, and invited thespian B. Jayashree for its three-month artist-in-residence program, a statement released on Thursday said.

Named after former NSD Director Ebrahim Alkazi, the Chair was given to Maharishi by a committee constituted by the theatre institution.

He will hold office for one year from the day of his acceptance, and will be paid Rs 1 lakh per month as honorarium, reports IANS.

NTR Biopic to Release in Two Parts

The much-awaited NTR biopic would be releasing in two parts. Starring Nandamuri Balakrishna as NTR, Vidya Balan as his wife and Rana Daggubati as Chandrababu Naidu, the first part of the film titled Kathanayakudu will release on 9 Jan 2019. The second part Mahanayakudu would be releasing on 24 January 2019.

TV Show to Tell Kalam's Life Story Ahead of His 87th Birth Anniversary

A week before late President A.P.J. Abdul Kalams 87th birth anniversary, which falls on October 15, National Geographic will delve deep into the life history of the icon to decipher the story behind his success, with the ongoing "Mega Icons" series.

In the October 8 episode of the series, rare facets of Kalam's life will be played out.

It will narrate some significant events of India's Missile Man's life and will give a scientific breakdown of how these events turned him into a giant the nation reveres. Out of these, how he looked at failures and handled them, is something to be inspired from, said a statement from the channel, reports IANS.

Sonali Bendre has sent an emotional video message to the team of the reality TV show India’s Best Dramebaaz before their big finale. The actor who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer in New York send a heartfelt note to her team and the children who are participating on the show. Sonali was one of the judges on the talent search based reality show which airs on Zee TV. Huma Qureshi stepped in for Sonali after she was diagnosed with cancer and had to leave the show abruptly.

CINTAA’s Sushant Singh On Tanushree; Process of Filing a Complaint

After Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment, CINTAA (Cine & TV Artists’ Association) took its time before releasing their statement in the matter. The association’s general secretary, Sushant Singh spoke to The Indian Express about why it took them some time to understand what happened in 2008, and also explained the process the film body adopts when a complaint in a sexual harassment case is filed.

Speaking about Tanushree’s statement that CINTAA gave no support to her, “We went back to our old records; thankfully, every case is documented. We realised that while CINTAA got the producers to settle the monetary damages Tanushree suffered, her chief complaint of sexual harassment had been overlooked and the case had been closed,” said Sushant. Indian films "Sanju", "Newton" and "Gali Guleiyan" have been nominated for the Best Asian Film Award at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA).

The Bollywood movies will be in contention with South Korea's "1987 When The Day Comes", "The Bold, The Corrupt And The Beautiful" from Taiwan, China's "Dying To Survive" and "Youth", Japanese film "Shoplifters" and "Tombiruo" from Malaysia, reports IANS.
