Jai Rajputana Sangh is threatening to burn cinema halls if Sanjay Leela Bhansali does not hold a special screening of Padmavati for them.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the members of the Jai Rajputana Sangh on Saturday held a meeting with the management of cinema halls and multiplexes in Jaipur and discussed the screening of the film.
“We won’t tolerate any distortion of history and if any romantic relationship is shown between queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, we will burn cinema halls screening the film,” said Bhanwar Singh Reta, founder, Jai Rajputana Sangh on Sunday.
According to the HT report, Reta who heads a 2.65 lakh member Sangh, boasts a degree in MBA. Reta has apparently warned cinema hall owners in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat as well.
This is not the first time Padmavati has been in trouble because of its titular character. Karni Sena had beaten up Sanjay Leela Bhansali and also vandalised his sets when the filming began.
Padmavati releases on 1 December.
