10 January saw two stalwarts of the Tamil film industry go head to head with the simultaneous release of Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith-starrer Viswasam. Early reviews of Viswasam, which reunites Ajith and director Siva for the fourth time, suggest that the film easily holds its own as a mass entertainer.
Calling it “neatly packaged with all essential ingredients”, trade expert and journalist Sreedhar Pillai has declared it a “complete Thala show”.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala succinctly summed up the film as a “blockbuster” and gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
According to Kaushik LM, the fight scenes are a thrill to watch and Ajith fans won’t be disappointed.
Actor Arun Vijay, who is currently filming for Saaho, was all praises for the film.
Journalist Haricharan Pudipeddi hailed Viswasam as a “solid comeback for Thala Ajith and director Siva after the underwhelming Vivegam (2017)”
Journalist and industry expert Surendhar MK too seemed to agree that the film makes for a great family entertainer.
