Vijay’s Sarkar is getting ready for a big Diwali release, and going by the buzz, the film is set to open big across screens worldwide. The AR Murugadoss flick will have a wide release in as many as 80 countries and around 1,200 international screens, according to The News Minute. The film is slated to release on November 6.
Kerala is in a frenzy as the countdown to Sarkar’s release begins. A fan club in Kollam, the Kollam Nanbans, is all set to erect a gigantic 175-feet cutout of Vijay on November 6.
On the other hand, Karthika Theatre, a single screen theatre in Thrissur’s Thalikulam village, is planning to screen Sarkar for 24 hours straight on 6 November.
Sarkar stars Vijay as a US-returned character who vows to bring about change in his society. It also stars Radha Ravi, Keerthy Suresh, Prem Kumar, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar and Yogi Babu in crucial roles.
The movie was recently mired in controversy after assistant director Varun Rajendran approached the Madras High Court alleging copyright infringement by Murugadoss, claiming that the plot bore an undeniable similarity to Rajendran’s own work Sengol, which he registered with the South Indian Writers' Association in 2007. The dispute was finally put to rest when Murugadoss and Rajendran reached an out-of-court settlement, as a result of which the latter will be given writing credits in the movie.
