Wearing handcuffs, Dhanush steps down from a police van with a menacing look. He holds a knife between his teeth and climbs up a rope onto a ship, with the sea, boat and a crew below him.
Actor Dhanush took to Twitter on 8 March to unveil the poster of his new film, Vada Chennai. Dhanush also revealed the name of his character in the new film – ‘Anbu’ (love).
Vetri Maaran, a four-time National Award winning director, is known for his hard-hitting films Kakka Muttai, Kodi and Lens. His movie Visaaranai won him the National Film Award for best feature in Tamil.
After two successful movies, Polladhavan and Aadukalam, this will be the third movie for the Dhanush-Maaran combo.
The movie Vada Chennai is expected to be a trilogy featuring Dhanush, who is said to be playing the role of a national-level carrom player who wants to make it big.
Vada Chennai (North Madras) is iconic for the several fishing hamlets and communities it houses. It is likely that Anbu’s character belongs to this community. The movie is believed to chronicle the lives of the residents of a village over 35 years.
The film is said to have strong political and social undertones. Vada Chennai features music by Santhosh Narayanan and is produced by Dhanush himself.
