Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty recently joined the cast of Rajinikanth’s Darbar. The Dhadkan actor will be playing the antagonist in the film. As someone who started his career by acting in the Tamil film 12B, Darbar is a homecoming of sorts as it will mark his return to the industry.
According to reports in The Indian Express, here’s what a source close to the production had to say:
Suniel Shetty will be shooting for Darbar next week in Mumbai, after which “the film will pick up its momentum”, said the report by The Indian Express.
The source also revealed that Suniel Shetty will be playing the role of Prateik Babbar’s father. “He will be seen in the avatar of a corporate honcho, a successful and stylish businessman. The movie is going to be a typical Rajinikanth film filled with action, so Suniel sir’s energy will also be very different, and you will see some interesting action sequences between Thalaivar and Anna,” the source added.
Suniel Shetty is also planning on reigniting the Hera Pheri franchise, which originally also starred Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. In a recent interview with PTI, he said that a third installment of the film is in works.
Suniel Shetty was last seen in Sidharth Malhotra's A Gentleman (2017). He also has a few other South Indian films that he is working on.
