The resignation of Sujoy Ghosh as the IFFI jury chief has raised quite a storm. The resignation came after the I&B ministry went against the jury to drop two films, Nude and S Durga, from the 48th International Film Festival of India that will be held in Panaji from November 20 to 28. They have been replaced by the Odia film Khyanikaa - The Lost Idea and the Assamese film Xhoixoboite Dhemalite (Rainbow Fields).
The Odia film features Amrita Chowdhury, Susant Misra, Choudhury Bikash Das, Hrushikesh Bhoi and Swastik Choudhury in the lead roles of these fantasy films.
Khyanikaa - The Lost Idea is the tale of two men that are claiming the possession of the same idea, and the idea itself is personified as a beautiful woman. As the men set off on a journey to claim the idea as their own, they must overcome fate, that is symbolised by a hefty man of authority.
Xhoixoboite Dhemalite (Rainbow Fields) by writer-director Bidyut Kotoky, stars Victor Banerjee, Dipannita Sharma, Nakul Vaid, Naved Aslam, Nipon Goswami and Nikumoni Barua.
As a semi autobiographical film, Xhoixoboite Dhemalite is based on the life of children growing up in the violent Assam of 80’s.
