Director AR Murugadoss has finally revealed Rajinikanth’s look in his upcoming film Darbar. The 68-year-old actor will be playing a police officer in a movie for the first time in 25 years after Pandiyan (1992). In one still, Thalaivar can be seen standing in a cloud of dust, dressed in a policeman’s outfit and wielding a sword in one hand. The other sees him in a more dapper avatar with a checked shirt and blue blazer.

Murugadoss also encouraged fans to make their own versions of the title design.
Darbar sees Rajinikanth and AR Murugadoss collaborate for the first time. The film is set in Mumbai. Earlier in May, a shooting schedule of Darbar at a college in Mumbai had to be put on hold after students of the college pelted stones on the crew of the film protesting against their strict rules.
Darbar will reportedly be Suniel Shetty’s Tamil film debut and also stars Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Prateik Babbar and Dalip Tahil. It has been bankrolled by Lyca Productions, which also backed Rajinikanth’s 2018 film 2.0.
A few pictures from the sets of Darbar had been leaked earlier.
Murugadoss has revealed the first poster for the film in April with the tagline "You decide whether you want to be good, bad or worse”.
Darbar is scheduled for release during Pongal 2020.
