The Office is one of the most popular American television sitcoms that aired from 2005 to 2013, lasting nine seasons. It was adapted from the BBC series of the same name. The series depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
Now, Hotstar is all set to release the Hindi remake of The Office, the trailer of which was recently dropped. We encounter a Punjabi boss Jagdeep Chaddha, who wants to be a “buddy” to his employees. The wary staff try to adjust to his antics, while Mr Chaddha is busy trying to win the trust of his employees.
However, it seems like Twitter isn’t impressed with the trailer at all. Check out some reactions:
While one user wrote that she has been thoroughly disappointed by the trailer itself, another compared it to Chernobyl.
Some Twitteratis demand to know what happened to the original content, and one user said that despite not watching the American series, he found the Hindi trailer anything but funny.
Others pointed out a different perspective:
So while the reactions seem slightly skewed, one can’t help but agree that those supporting the adaptation to make a fair point.
