Netflix is all set to expand its India footprint, and one of the first such projects to premiere on the platform is Rajma Chawal. Directed by Leena Yadav, it stars Rishi Kapoor, Amyra Dastur, Aparshakti Khurana and Anirudh Tanwar.

Rajma Chawal is a light-hearted coming-of-age tale set in Delhi around a widower who tries to reconnect with his millennial son in the age of social media. The film premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in October and is slated to release on Netflix on 30 November.

Check out the teaser here:

Leena Yadav, who directed the critically acclaimed Parched, told Indian Express:

“The father-son dynamic is a universal human theme, and Netflix, with its global reach and ability to address a range of audiences with rich and resonant stories, was the ideal partner for us. Being on Netflix invites the whole world into the lives of a family in Chandni Chowk, and we are excited to bring the tumult, colour and vitality of both the family and the area to newer audiences.”

Rishi Kapoor too is excited about his Netflix debut. He had earlier told IANS:

“I wanted to work with Leena. I liked the ambience and where the story was being told — the whole beauty of Chandni Chowk. I did it once with Delhi 6. The triumph of this project is that we are shooting the whole film in Chandni Chowk.”
