The trailer for upcoming Netflix series Leila, based on Prayaag Akbar’s eponymous novel, has been released. The two-minute-long clip offers a window into an eerie, dystopian world where people are indoctrinated by leaders of the cult-like Aryavarta religion and segregated on the basis of caste, religion and income. The series follows Shalini, played by Huma Qureshi, who must brave several obstacles on her quest to find her daughter who is taken away from her as a child.

The series also stars Rahul Khanna, Siddharth, Seema Biswas, Akash Khurana, Sanjay Suri and Arif Zakaria. It has been directed by Deepa Mehta and streams on Netflix from 14 June.
