‘Hostages’ Has Multiple Plots: Tisca & Ronit Talk About the Show

Actors Tisca Chopra and Ronit Roy are all set for their Hotstar debut with the remake of Israeli show Hostages. The web series revolves around a surgeon Mira Anand played by Tisca Chopra, who has been taken hostage with her family to assassinate the chief minister while she performs surgery on him.
Mira Anand is faced with a dilemma of whether she should give in to the threat and save her family or be true to the Hippocratic oath she took as a doctor to save every patient no matter what.
The show marks Tisca’s debut in the web series zone and she took to Instagram to share her excitement.
The Quint caught up with Tisca Chopra and Ronit Roy to talk about their Hotstar Original.
Do you want to tell me what is the story line?
Tisca: Don’t you want to watch it?
Ronit: In simple words, I’ll explain it before this intellectualism. This story is such that there is no plot. Every time you feel the plot is going somewhere, it’s not where the plot is going. The plot is going somewhere else. And when you feel that the plot is going somewhere else that’s not where the plot is going. It is going to a third place altogether. The basic theory is that this lady, pretty lady… very talented, stellar actor…So, this lady here, Tisca Chopra, has been taken hostage. And she’s asked to kill the CM by her hostage taker. I am Prithvi Singh. I am a cop. You’ll get to know what I am doing once you watch the show. Anyway, coming back to her, she has to kill the CM. Now, will she kill the CM to save her family’s life, because her family is also taken hostage? This is the bare shell of the story.
But did the script have you gripped? When you were reading it were you anticipating what your character will do next?
Absolutely. The original show is an Israeli show. It’s also called Hostages. I binge-watched it. I couldn’t stop watching it. It is absolutely stunning. And I am yet to meet a character on a script or wherever as unbelievably solid as Dr Mira Anand. She is a dream character. One of my best characters. Spine of steel and the intelligence of a rocket scientist. She’s unbelievable. I was so juiced up for the role.
